Client messaging

One thread per client, not five apps

The booking is in one app, the question about it is in your DMs, and the photo they sent is somewhere in your camera roll. All of it belongs in one place.

Replies come back here

A client answering from their own email lands in their thread, not in your inbox.

They can start it

Clients can write from their own account page without needing your email address.

It works like email, because for them it is

You write from the dashboard. It arrives in their inbox looking like an email from your salon. They hit reply, from whatever mail app they use, and it comes back into the thread — not to your personal address, and not to whichever staff member happened to send it.

A client who'd rather not use email at all can write from their own account page on your booking site instead. Both arrive in the same conversation.

  • One conversation per client, however they answered
  • Quoted history stripped, so a reply reads as a reply
  • Unread counts, so nothing sits unanswered by accident

One thread, however they answered

Emails they sent from their own inbox and messages they typed into your booking site land in the same conversation, in order, with the unread count sitting in the nav until someone deals with it.

Your dashboard

So it reaches the right person

Their stylist first

A client with a preferred stylist has their messages notified to that person rather than to everyone.

Otherwise, the owner

No preferred stylist on record means the salon's owners are told instead. Nothing lands nowhere.

Scoped to your salon

A client's thread belongs to the salon they book with. Nothing is shared across businesses.

Questions

Do clients need an account to message me?
Not to reply — a reply to any email from you comes back into the thread. Starting a conversation from the booking site needs an account with your salon, which is free and takes an email address.
Can I text a client instead?
No. Texting in Inchair is reminders only. Messages reach clients by email and in their account.
Can I send an announcement to all my clients at once?
No. Messaging is one client at a time. There's no bulk campaign sender, and we'd rather say so than imply otherwise.
What stops a reply going to the wrong client?
Every outbound message carries a reply address unique to that conversation, so an inbound email is matched to a thread by the address it was sent to rather than by guessing at the sender.
